Facing uncertainty about future congressional appropriations, the Energy Department is turning to alternative models to fund its part of the governmentwide data center consolidation initiative, including Energy Performance Contacting.
On May 11, the Deputy Secretary of DOE issued a moratorium on support service contracts. It restricts modifying any existing contract, including adding funds to any existing contract. The moratorium goes until Oct 1, 2011. The only way to get an exemption is to have is the determination it is essential to the mission of DOE or NNSA.

AFCEA Energy, formerly known as the AFCEA Germantown Chapter was officially incorporated in June of1998. The chapter was established through collaboration of the US of Department of Energy (DOE) and senior industry representatives. Since 1998, the chapter has been fully supported by the DOE and other federal agencies.
Founded through collaboration with the Department of Energy Chief Information Officer, the AFCEA Energy Chapter is a non-profit organization that encourages greater government/industry partnerships and fosters networking among technology professionals in the energy community. In 2005 and 2006, the chapter received Special Recognition Awards from AFCEA International for its ongoing programs and increased membership.
AFCEA ENERGY is a non-profit organization that encourages greater government/industry partnerships and fosters networking among technology professionals in the energy community. AFCEA Energy provides the opportunity to build relationships, identify needs and challenges, and explore technology solutions that will help support the diverse mission and needs of the Energy community.
The new AFCEA ENERGY chapter provides a forum where scientific, technology, and policy leaders from industry and government can come together to address the needs of the energy community. AFCEA Energy leverages Web 2.0 and other collaborative tool sets to create a virtual environment in order to support a more open and transparent government.
